Abstract

AbstractAdsorption of xanthate at pyrrhotite with air and nitrogen, and the effects of cationic species have been investigated. The results have been correlated with flotation of pyrrhotite with air and nitrogen. While the use of nitrogen in place of air causes depression of pyrrhotite the effect is significantly reduced in presence of cationic species. The results are discussed on the basis of a suggested mechanism of the adsorption of xanthate at pyrrhotite.
