Abstract

In 1993 the Portland State University Library began an Adopt-a-Journal program to take advantage of interest generated from a major serials cancellation project. The program was successful from a public relations point of view and allowed the library to maintain some of its cancelled subscriptions. The program has continued through 1995. This article explains how the program was created and the procedures followed during the first year, including changes which would have been made in hindsight.
