Abstract
The effectiveness of the porous particulate admixture in protecting paste and mortar specimens made of portland cement-fly-ash mixture from freeze-thaw damage was tested. Of the two admixtures used, vermiculite at a dosage of 1.25%, expressed as weight percent of the cementitious materials, was found more effective than brick at the 10% concentration level. Freeze-thaw durability of the specimens was also affected by the type of fly-ash used.
