Abstract
Scabies is an infectious skin disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei. Conventional topical scabicides are being accused of complicated usage, high toxicity, local irritation, cosmetic unacceptability and compromising social activity. Oral ivermectin is believed to be more convenient, tolerable, effective and safe in managing scabietic outbreaks, Norwegian scabies in immunocompromised hosts and scabies in patients with large areas of skin damage. Especially, oral ivermectin is applicable to community-based control and prevention of scabies. Key words: Scabies; Therapy; Ivermectin
