Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Obesity has a negative impact on fertility and is a major risk factor for endometrial cancer. Increased levels of adipose tissue derived cytokines like TNFα, IL6 and PAI are reported to have an adverse influence on implantation. Angiogenic factors (VEGF), cell cycle regulators (Cyclin D1), and Wnt genes are key factors for successful implantation and development. Effect of obesity on endometrium and its cellular characteristics needs to be evaluated. The objective is to understand molecular alterations in human endometrial glandular epithelial cells (EGEC) cocultured with human adipocyte cells SW872.
