Abstract

The shield crosses the expansive clay stratum, which is easy to cause damage to the side wall retaining structure of the tunnel, and it is easy to paste the cutter head during the tunneling, which makes the cutter tool unable to cut the soil normally. In order to study the adaptability of soil pressure balance shield in expansive clay stratum, based on the first phase project of Xuzhou metro urban rail transit line 2, the targeted design of the shield selection and the selection of excavation parameters are proposed. The torque design meets the requirements of stratum excavation and the optimum tunneling speed is 30–50 mm/min. The relevant conclusions can provide a more comprehensive reference for shield construction under similar formation conditions in the future.
