Acute Toxicity of Tafazine to Fish

Abstract

For the assessment of Tafazine toxicity on fish, three species of freshwater fish of Ujjain viz. Tilapia mossambica, Punctius ticto and Heteropneustes fossilis, were studied in “three concentrations of the herbicide, viz. 1, 5 and 10 ppm. The metabolic rate of fishes (Opercular beats per minute) were measured and a remarkable toxic effect, especially at higher concentrations, was observed. Tilapia mossambica was found to be more susceptible to Tafazine concentration than Punctius ticto and Heteropneustes fossilis.
