Abstract
Labyrinthitis is an inflammation of the membranous labyrinth of the inner ear caused by viruses, bacteria, or systemic diseases that presents as vertigo, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, and/or hearing loss. Treatment depends on the cause. We present two cases of labyrinthitis presenting with vertigo, otalgia, and tinnitus. They were successfully treated with a 10-day course of amoxicillin-clavulanate and corticosteroids. Taking antibiotics and corticosteroids early gives a maximum chance of recovery from the labyrinth. Keywords : emergency, labyrinthitis, corticosteroids, amoxicillin-clavulanate.
