Abstract
HIV and Treponema pallidum share the same route of transmission and syphilitic ulcers may increase the risk of infection with HIV. Diagnostic of primary HIV infection (PHI) may be difficult due to delayed seroconversion and symptoms similar to secondary syphilis. Dual infection (HIV and T. pallidum) and problems with the correct diagnosis were described.
