Abstract

RECENT reports have indicated that the Coxsackie viruses may well be etiologic agents in certain cases of acute benign pericarditis. During the months of June to November, 1958, there was an outbreak of epidemic pleurodynia at one of the commands of the United States Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. During this period 8 cases of acute benign pericarditis were observed, of which 6 were from this particular command, and 2 were in patients from other military establishments not connected with the naval air station who at the time of their illnesses were residing in Jacksonville.
