Abstract

The annealing behaviour of radiation damage produced by the passage of heavy ions, namely 139 La (14.6 MeV n -1 ) and 208 Pb (17 and 13.6 MeV n -1 ), in soda-lime glass is studied using a formulation developed by Modgil and Virk [ Nucl. Instrum. Meth. B12 , 212–218 (1985)]. The data are also analysed using a modified version given by Price et al. [ Nucl. Instrum. Meth. B28 , 53–55 (1987)], and the improved formulation of our own approach. It is observed that the values of activation energy, E a , are in good agreement for both of these formulations, which supports the hypothesis of a single activation energy of annealing.
