Abstract

This paper analyses language attitudes at ‘Matarranya’ district; located in the province of Teruel (Spain). By the means of a sociolinguistic questionnaire; we can confirm that certain indices (such as language loyalty or linguistic pride) illustrate that Catalan and Spanish still live in a deep situation of diglossia. In addition; if we focus on some social factors (age; gender and social class); it leads us to describe a situation of unfavorable attitudes toward Catalan in any subgroups of the sample.
