Abstract

A diurnal periodicity in the number of earthquakes is detected as a result of an analysis of the worldwide catalog of earthquakes in 24 investigated samples corresponding to different time zones. It is established that the acrophase of the diurnal seismicity trend regularly changes when passing from one time zone to another, i.e., with changing geographic longitude. The corresponding equation of linear regression is obtained.
