Abstract
Rippling muscle disorders are myopathies with signs of muscle hyperexcitability characterized by a peculiar rolling, wavelike phenomena across muscles that can be induced by stretch or percussion. An acquired autoimmune form of the disorder has been described with rippling muscles associated with myasthenia gravis both with and without thymoma. The clinical phenomena of rippling muscles with acquired autoimmune rippling muscles (ARM) are identical to that previously described with inherited rippling muscle disease (RMD). The latter will be described in this chapter as background for the more recently described acquired autoimmune rippling muscles with myasthenia gravis.
