Abstract

A new type of array transducer system with simple hardware is developed to construct an image without mechanical or electrical scans. The array transducer is composed of two electrode patterns which can transmit an ultrasonic wave having an angle dependence of frequency response. A preliminary simulation of the correlation procedure using a single sinusoidal pulse showed good results for the image construction, but it was difficult for the array transducer system to reconstruct the image because of its acoustic waveform with a tail. A pseudoinverse matrix detection method was then shown applicable to reconstruct the image.
