Abstract

An exact solution for the acoustic coupling function from a focused transducer to a flat plate and back to the transducer (the diffraction correction function) is provided. This function is useful for the system calibration where is pulse-echo system or transmit–receive system is used. Numerical results will be presented for the case where the reference plate is placed near the focal plane of the transducer. The solution for a flat disk transducer is obtained as a limiting case.
