Abstract

AbstractAcoustic and optical deformation potentials (DP) in cubic IV‐VI compounds are calculated by diagonalizing the p‐model Hamiltonian including finite lattice distortions at the L‐ and T‐points of the Brillouin zone. A very pronounced and even non‐monotonous dependence is found of some DP upon the very lattice deformation and, most surprisingly, Ξ2(L) < 0 for the optical DP. This may explain the wide variance of experimental data for different samples and experimental conditions.
