Abstract
The effect of the contact deposition of lead on the aluminum corrosion rate in hydrochloric acid solutions is studied. At an insignificant depolarization with metal-ions, the aluminum corrosion rate is determined by the coverage of aluminum with lead deposit, the deposit's surface area, and the duration of contacting. Nonmonotonic character of the time dependence of the corrosion rate may be associated with the kinetics of lead deposition. An equation that estimates the inhibiting coefficient as a function of the coverage of aluminum surface with lead is proposed.
