Abstract
The objective of the present study is to obtain a medium Mn austenitic stainless steel with excellent mechanical properties induced by the combination of high dislocation density and heterogeneous nano/ultrafine grains. The result of this study demonstrated that the ultrahigh yield strength (1285 MPa) and the excellent product of tensile strength and total elongation (PSE, 67.2%) are simultaneously achieved. The combination of high dislocation density and heterogeneous nano/ultrafine-grains resulted in such high yield strength. Meanwhile, since the generous dislocation slip, TWIP effect and TRIP effect are well controlled by heterogeneous microstructure, the strain hardening rate was always at a high level, which achieved high tensile strength and total elongation.
