Abstract
1. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity in the cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum, optic lobes, diencephalon, mesencephalon, medulla oblongata, whole brain and cervical spinal cord of the rainbow lizard, Agama agama, was determined by a spectrophotometric method. 2. Results show regional differences in AChE activity in the nervous tissues studied with the highest enzyme activity occuring in the optic lobes and lowest activity occuring in the cerebral hemispheres. 3. Comparison of the AChE activity in the CNS of the rainbow lizard with that of other vertebrates shows some similarities and differences in the AChE activity of vertebrate CNS.
