Abstract

An analytic 19-parameter model is obtained for the vibrational potential of the ground state of HF by a fit to the rovibrational spectrum. Two additional parameters are used to describe nonadiabatic effects. The accuracy of the fit is about as good as experimental errors permit. A 12-parameter model for the dipole function is obtained by fitting empirical dipole matrix elements, using eigenfunctions from the above potential model; accuracy is again about as good as the data permit.
