Abstract

The development of the UPI Purwakarta campus cannot be separated from the history of the campus which is marked by the existence of heritage buildings with colonial architecture. Amid building developments in the current millennial era, the UPI Purwakarta campus as one of the leading educational buildings in Purwakarta does not yet have a distinctive image or identity in each of its buildings, even most of them are still like simple buildings. Therefore, this paper will examine campus architecture which can represent contextual campus buildings and identity through facades. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a historical approach. The results of this study indicate that the campus building design adopts the acculturation of Sundanese traditional architecture that appears on the roof, namely the “jolopong” roof, combined with the colonial architecture that appears on vertical, horizontal, and curved lines. In addition, the colonial facade is formed from a protruding line of columns and beams. The results of the study in this paper expected to be used as a guide in the construction of further campus buildings.
