Abstract
Previous work had shown that dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate accelerated peritoneal dialysis of urea. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate when used as a single, short-term lavage prior to dialysis with control fluid. Intermittent dialysis was used for evaluation. Urea and phosphate were removed at about twice the normal rate, while creatinine removal was not significantly affected.
