Abstract
Without more rapid progress towards private sector development in Central and Eastern Europe, significant improvement in the efficiency and competitiveness of individual enterprises and national economies will remain elusive. In a sharp departure from the traditional case-by-case approach, new approaches have emerged to facilitate transfer assets to the private sector. This article analyzes three such innovations, namely, auction sales, mass privatization and industry-specific privatization.
