Abstract
Abstract Acaena rorida and A. tesca, both belonging to Section Microphyllae, are described and illustrated. Acaena rorida grows in a single small area in the NW Ruahine Range, North Island, in tussock grassland on limestone substrate. Acaena tesca grows on the schistose mountain ranges in Central Otago and northern Southland, South Island. These two species are compared with those they are most like, and their distinguishing characters are given.
