Abstract
The substantiation of necessity of creation of the public organization which has received the name Academy of Civil Engineering of Ukraine is presented. The essence of activity of the Academy from the moment of creation up to the present is disclosed. It is noted that the Academy is the first organization in Ukraine with the new structure of its activity. The Academy was created not on the traditional principles, but includes not only graduated representatives of science, but also skilled workers of production, laureates of State prizes, honoured workers of science and technics, honoured builders of Ukraine, workers of higher school, leading specialists of the construction industry. That is the Academy is a public organization with wide representation of engineers of the civil engineering profession united on the voluntary basis on the principles of equality of its members, democratic self-government, collegiality, publicity and lawfulness. The main results of the Academy activity from its foundation to the present are highlighted.
