Abstract

The field-induced shift in the superconducting transition of single-crystalline YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 and Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8 compounds has been measured by AC susceptibility in magnetic fields up to 6 T. The data for YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 are compared with previously published field effects on the resistive transition in a sample of the same batch. The results are discussed in terms of flux pinning and irreversible magnetization.
