Abstract
We describe the design, operation, and testing of a compact ac temperature controller capable of controlling furnace temperatures to ±0.03 °C up to 1350 °C. Utilizing a thermocouple sensing element, this microprocessor-based unit supplies 60-Hz furnace current, virtually free of rf noise. Furthermore, this controller will either hold the furnace at the desired temperature or will ramp the furnace temperature up or down linearly with time.
