Abstract

Effects of different rates of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fertilizer and combinations of the two on abundance of the Banks grass mite (BGM), Oligonychus pratensis (Banks), on sorghum and corn was determined. N fertilizer had a weak positive effect on BGM densities on corn but no effect on BGM abundance on sorghum. P fertilizer had little effect on BGM densities on either crop. More mites were often present on sorghum fertilized with combinations of N-P than those fertilized with N or P alone.
