Abstract

Gastropods is one of several aquatic organisms that are useful for the sustainability of ecosystem namely as a reciprocal relationship with environmental conditions. This study aims to determining the abundance, dominance and diversity of gastropods in Bunga Beach, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra. The research was conducted in February-March 2022 with method sampling was done by purposive sampling at three locations, each observation location with 30 plots measuring 5×5 m2. The results of this study obtained 21 species of gastropods belonging to the 12 families, where the most numerous species are found Cerithidea alata as many as 302 individuals. The least found individuals is Tonna dolium which is 4 individuals. The abundance value ranged from 9,56-14,0 individuals/m2, the dominance index ranged from 0,10-0,37 with the average category of non-dominant gastropod species reinforced by the dominance index value at each station close to zero, the diversity index ranged from 1,27-2,33 which is included in the medium category. Based on results showed that the environment conditions of Bunga Beach still relatively balanced and suitable for gastropods life.
