Abstract
This paper is an attempt to explore the pragmatic elements in the rhetorics of the linguistic structures which are implicit in the original meaning such as demand, command, promise and other ends concerning the reaction of the receiver such as refusal and acceptance. The researcher firstly selected a line of verse for Al-Buhtari whichsucceeds in achieving psychological communication among individuals for humanitarian ends in the light of the examples of bahavioural verbs from two perspectives: verbs of psychological nearness and verbs of psychological separatness. Secondly, the paper attempts an analysis of the kinguistic discourse of Prophet Mohammads Farewell Address. Thirdly, the paper deals with the functions of language by examining classical poems in the light of Roman Jacobson's theory.
