Abstract

This paper reports on the benefits to programmers of creating a library of abstract data types for linear algebra and computer-aided control systems analysis and design. Such a library should be easier and safer to use than the current state-of-the-art which is based on libraries of compiled FORTRAN functions. The structure of the some abstract data types for control systems is indicated and an example of their use in linear systems modelling is given.
