Abstract

ABSTRACT Shell and Union Pacific Resources have drilled seven successful gas wells in 11 attempts based on their 3-D seismic survey of the greater Kings Bayou area in southern Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The 3-D seismic data helped resolved complex structure, explained apparent stratigraphic inconsistencies, and identified several amplitude anomalies thereby defining significant exploration and development opportunities in a mature area. Newly discovered recoverable volumes of 65 BCF have been found in lower Miocene reservoirs increasing field production from 0.6 MMCFD in 1993, prior to the acquisition of the 3-D survey, to 41 MMCFD. This new-found gas has revived a dying field and returned it to full production capacity. End_of_Record - Last_Page 568-------
