Abstract
OWING to the importance of the determination of the energy of dissociation of nitrogen, it seems of interest to mention the value of DN2 obtained by the study of the absorption spectrum of nitrous oxide (N2O). This method, although an indirect one, gave a value of DN2=6.9±0.2 volts, which is in fairly good agreement with the latest value of Herzberg and Sponer1, DN2=7.34 volts.
