Abstract

The absorption cross-section spectra, stimulated emission cross-section spectra, fluorescence quantum yields and degrees of fluorescence polarisation of the dyes rhodamine 6G and oxazine 750 in porous silicate sol-gel glasses and in methanol are determined. Gelsil glasses of 2.5 nm, 5 nm, and 7.5 nm pore diameter are studied. For the investigated pore size range the absorption and emission spectroscopic parameters are independent of the pore size. Some concentration dependent effects are observed on the Gelsil glass fluorescence spectra due to chemisorption and physisorption.
