Abstract

Earlier measurements on half-lives of excited states in 182 W have shown remarkable disagreements. The main object of this investigation has been to remeasure these half-lives and to find the reason for the discrepancies. The following half-lives have been found for the excited levels in 182 W: 1553 keV level: T 1 2 = 1.23±0.02 ns , 1488 keV level: T 1 2 ≦ 0.12 ns , 1374 keV level: T 1 2 ≦ 0.14 ns , 1289 keV level: T 1 2 = 1.12±0.02 ns , 329 keV level: T 1 2 ≦ 0.20 ns , 100 keV level: T 1 2 = 1.38±0.02 ns . This is in agreement with the findings of Meiling and Stary but in disagreement with Bashandy et al . The half-life of the 453 keV level in 183 W was found to be T 1 2 = 19.5±0.3 ns in agreement with earlier results.
