Abstract
The obstacles students face during their final years of study may be caused by non-academic matters. This study attempts to specifically elaborate the roots of non-regular students' studying problems through their sanative poetry writing, choice of words, and metaphorical expressions. Sanative poetry writing application called Poe-Life utilizing emphatic technology is designed to provide an alternative creative writing tool. Data is gathered through each students” poem, its metaphorical textual analysis, questionnaires (DASS=Depression Anxiety Stress Scale and RSES=Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale), and deep interview with the students. The results show that students” learning difficulties stem from low self-esteem, higher anxiety regarding their learning and future pressures and fears of failure. The more favored poetic expressions are preferably done through digital poetry writing application than manual/traditional one, due to its practicality, emphatic modes and creative assistance through choices of hurting and healing words. The research implies that sanative poetry writing may be proposed as an alternative coaching medium to therapeutically assist non-regular students to better succeed their study.
