About This Issue David J. Endres This issue considers the current state of U.S. Catholic historiography. The assembled studies chart developments in historians’ approaches to topics that include gender, race, and social change. They examine scholarly contributors and suggest areas for further research. We are grateful to our contributors. Sandra Yocum is associate professor in the Religious Studies Department and University Professor of Faith and Culture at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. She is also a consulting editor of our journal. Margaret M. McGuinness is professor emerita in the Department of Religion and Theology at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jeffrey M. Burns is the director of the Academy of American Franciscan History and a faculty member of the Franciscan School of Theology at the University of San Diego. He is also an associate editor of our journal. Brian J.
