Abstract

Odd numbered fatty acids are found in the lipids of patients with deranged vitamin B12 utilization. Since such patients exhibit neurological disorders, emphasis is placed on the alterations that occur in nervous tissue. Propionate is shown to give rise to uneven numbered fatty acids when nerve slices from pernicious anemia patients are incubated in vitro.
