Abstract

Objectives: To explore the characteristics of sexual function in perimenopausal women with hypertension Methods: This study enrolled 355 perimenopausal women with hypertension as hypertension group after exclusion, and randomly selected 355 perimenopausal women with normal blood pressure as control group matched by age, body weight and height. Blood was collected and used to determine blood indexes like cholesterol, urea nitrogen and creatinine, etc.Female sexual function index (FSFI) questionnaire was used to evaluate their sexual function.Besides, mini-mental state examination (MMSE) was applied to evaluate the mental status. The relationship between blood pressure and FSFI score was analyzed with Pearson correlation analysis Results: No significant difference of was found in menopause rate between this two group (P < 0.01). FSFI total score was lower in hypertension group compared with normal blood pressure group, and it has a significant negative relationship with blood pressure. Compared with normal blood pressure group, hypertension group had significantly lower level of sexual function sexual desire, sexual arousal, vaginal lubrication, orgasm, sexual satisfaction and higher level of sexual pain. Multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that FSFI score was significantly correlated with systolic blood pressure, menopause), total cholesterol, platelets, MMSE score and education degree Conclusion: The sexual function of perimenopausal women with hypertension was lower than perimenopausal women with normal blood pressure, particularly in sexual desire, sexual arousal, vaginal lubrication, orgasm, sexual satisfaction and sexual pain, which might be caused by hypertension and also related to menopause, total cholesterol, education degree, MMSE and platelets levels
