Abstract

An investigation was made on the incidence of HI antibodies against influenza A (H1N1, H3N2, and Hsw 1N1) viruses in swine in Hiroshima Prefecture over a period from July, 1977, to July, 1979.In Daiwa Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, there has been an increase in the population of swine with high HI antibody titer against Hsw1N1 and H3N2 type viruses since early summer in 1979. Some of these swine were supposed to have been infected with both Hsw1N1 and H3N2 type viruses. No swine with high HI antibody titers against H1N1 type virus were detected in the present survey.Such low HI antibody as 1: 16 and 1: 32 were not alwaysconsidered to represent a specific antibody reaction.
