Abstract
Considering extremely limited energy of sensor nodes, how to utilize energy of the sensor nodes effectively to prolong survival time of wireless sensor network (WSN) is crucial. Aiming at monitoring application in particular regions, residual energy and distance constraint condition between cluster heads are taken into consideration. A new wireless sensor network clustering algorithm (EDL, Energy and Distance LEACH) is proposed to solve issues of finite energy and energy balance of WSN. Comparison of simulation tests between EDL clustering algorithm and LEACH algorithm was conducted. Results showed that the algorithm could make cluster head distribute in the actual confined area uniformly and avoid unnecessary energy loss which was caused by distance induced wireless interference.
