Abstract

This paper presents a wideband circularly polarized (CP) unit cell for Ka-band transmitarray antennas. The proposed unit cell is a transmitting-receiving structure. The receiving side is a wideband linearly polarized magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna, and the transmitting side is a wideband circularly polarized (CP) antenna with orthogonal electric-dipole mode and patch modes. Both the LP and CP antenna are fed by a probe from the center of the unit cell, thus the required phase shift for transmitarray antennas can be achieved by rotating the CP antenna. The transmission magnitude of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$s_{21}^{LX}$</tex> is higher than -1 dB from 29.4 to 38.5 GHz.
