Abstract

Web-based discussion study provides opportunities for various types of interaction between learners and the teacher and among learners. Despite the high educational usability of Web-based discussion study, it is not easy to induce active participation, discussion and interaction because there is no way to force students' participation and control their discussion activities. For proper discussion study, the teacher and learners must participate in discussion actively and positively, and for this the teacher needs to establish a teaching strategy for stimulating learners' active participation in discussion. In addition, parents should check their children's participation in discussion study. This study designed and implemented a Web-based discussion study system that provides various forms of discussion spaces and promotes student's active participation and interaction through observing their discussion activities. In this system, teachers or parents can observe students' participation in discussion and provide feedback.
