Abstract

This paper describes the development of a versatile controller which is capable of causing a permanent magnet bifilar wound stepper motor to step in accordance with either analog or digital inputs, or analog input. It incorporates an incremental encoder for converting into pulses the difference between the analog input values at two successive sampling instants. These pulses are then fed to the motor translator which drives the motor in forward or reverse direction as required by input pulses.
