Abstract
In an effort to increase strokes, we consider the control of a permanent-magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) in an extended region where the armature winding is partially out of the PM field range. As the armature winding travels beyond the PM field range, the force output is reduced while the force ripple increases. In this work, a back-electromotive-force model is established in the extended region, and an optimal control method is proposed. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
