Abstract
A new apparatus has been developed for the rapid determination of the total gas content of liquids. The test liquid is de-gassed in a cylinder, and the partial gas pressure (and hence the original gas content of the liquid) is deduced from the rise in total pressure occurring when the volume of the cylinder is suddenly reduced. Unlike previous gas-content instruments, it will handle practically any liquid or mixture of liquids including emulsions and suspensions. The accuracy appears to be to better than ±5%. The apparatus is patented and is to be manufactured under licence.
