Abstract

A unified method for image restoration and reconstruction using quadratic programming technique is presented. Inequality type constraints in gray level images have explicitly been introduced. These constraints constitute additional informations about the problem. The present method is independent of any noise statistics. Under certain relaxed condition we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm reduces to the least square estimate. The newly proposed algorithm can efficiently handle the quality of the restored/reconstructed image. The necessary and sufficient conditions of the optimal image restoration/reconstruction algorithm have been thoroughly checked. The proposed method is basically derived from the conjugate gradient method and serious attention has been put to the numerical stability of the algorithm. For the efficient implementation of the algorithm we decompose the entire problem into two parts. The first part of the problem deals with the nonnegativity constraints and the second part of the pro...
