Abstract

Abstract: Periapical diseases are mostly induced as a result of direct or indirect involvement of oral bacteria. The causative factors include oral contaminants through the root canal or degenerating pulpal tissues. Hence, only surgical removal of the periapical lesions without proper root canal disinfection and obturation will not result in the healing of periapical tissues. The aim of this case report is to present a biologic rationale for the non -surgical endodontic management of large periapical pathosis of pulpal origin. Emphasis is laid on thorough debridement, placement of intracanal medicament and three dimensional obturation of root canal system by a simple lateral condensation technique in a non-compliant patient. Keywords: Periapical lesion, nonsurgical healing, intracanal medicament
