Abstract
A sufficient stability criterion for the peeling mode with Δ⩾0 is obtained from Braginskii's two-fluid theory, in which the stabilizing finite gyroradius effect is shown to lead to a new term and to the preservation of the stabilizing influence of the term Δ 2 of Mercier's criterion.
